Prof. Cahit Külekçi, Vice-Rector of Yalova University, paid a visit to Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University in line with our university’s vision for internationalisation and its academic co-operation objectives, and met with Rector Prof. Alpaslan Ceylan.
During the meeting, held within the framework of the academic cooperation protocol signed between Yalova University and Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University in 2025, discussions centred on developing existing relations between the two higher education institutions, increasing academic mobility and implementing sustainable joint projects.
The main agenda items of the meeting included strengthening student and academic staff mobility – particularly through the Orhun Exchange Programme run under the Organisation of Turkic States – developing joint scientific research projects, organising international academic events, and expanding opportunities for inter-faculty cooperation.
During the visit, it was emphasised that the fact that four students from the Faculty of Theology at the Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University are currently continuing their studies at the Faculty of Theology at Yalova University constitutes one of the concrete and successful examples of cooperation between the two institutions. In this context, hopes were expressed that student mobility would be mutually increased, diversified to include different academic units, and that the existing cooperation would be extended to a broader academic framework.
During the meeting, attention was also drawn to the importance of further strengthening the historical, cultural and scientific ties between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan through higher education institutions. It was stated that supporting the shared historical and cultural heritage through academic work would not only contribute to the institutional development of the two universities but would also make significant contributions to the development of scientific interaction and academic integration within the Turkic world.
At the conclusion of the visit, which ended with expressions of mutual goodwill and a desire to foster cooperation, Prof. Alpaslan Ceylan, Rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, presented and decorated Prof. Cahit Külekçi, Vice-Rector of Yalova University, with a traditional Ak Kalpak – one of the key symbols of the Kyrgyz people’s deep-rooted cultural heritage and national identity.
The visit, which concluded with this meaningful ceremony—a symbolic expression of the bonds of friendship and brotherhood—was regarded as an important step towards developing academic relations between the two universities and strengthening cooperation in the field of higher education within the Turkic world.
