A commemoration event for the Sarıkamış Campaign, organised by our University Library and Documentation Directorate, was held. The programme was attended by our Vice-Rector Prof. Taner Tatar, our Secretary General Hayri Karaca, academic and administrative staff, and students.
Our Vice-Rector Prof. Taner Tatar delivered the opening speech of the programme. This was followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran and a prayer by Mahmut Aydın, Imam Hatip of Veysel Karani Mosque and a student of our Faculty of Theology.
Dr Cihan Yalvar, lecturer in the Department of History, gave a presentation entitled ‘Climate, Will and Obedience: The Place and Importance of Sarıkamış in Turkish Military History’.
The Yalova University Mountaineering Club presented the Turkish flag they had raised on the summit of the Allahuekber Mountains to the participants.
The event concluded with the presentation of flowers.
