In line with the “Disaster-Ready University” approach implemented in collaboration between the Higher Education Council and the Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management, a cooperation protocol was signed between Yalova University and AFAD.
The protocol aims to raise awareness of disasters within higher education institutions, promote volunteer activities, strengthen disaster management capacity through research and development and academic studies, and disseminate the benefits achieved at a societal level.
The protocol was signed by our Vice-Rector, Prof. Cahit Külekçi, on behalf of the University, and by Department Head Yılmaz Karakaş on behalf of the Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management. The aim is to develop institutional efforts within the University to reduce disaster risks and to strengthen coordination with AFAD.
Under this collaboration, it is planned to address disaster risk management, education, application and research activities at Yalova University through a holistic approach, and to ensure the active participation of students, academic and administrative staff in disaster preparedness processes.
