Significant Cooperation Between Yalova University and Tuzla University in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Rector of Yalova University, Prof. Mehmet Bahçekapılı, accompanied by Vice-Rector Prof. Senay Yürür, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Hasan Kaplan, and Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Sibel Akova, paid an official visit to Tuzla University in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of developing inter-institutional and international academic cooperation.

During the visit, Yalova University Rector Prof. Mehmet Bahçekapılı and Tuzla University Rector Prof. Amir Karić met and held a meeting. During the discussions aimed at developing cooperation between the two countries' long-established universities, the importance of strengthening academic ties between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the field of Social and Humanities Sciences, was emphasised. Prof. Bahçekapılı stated that important academic projects would be signed to further advance relations between the two friendly and brotherly countries.

The delegation also visited the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tuzla University. During the meetings, which were attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Sead Nazibegović, and the Vice-Deans, Prof. Selma Kesetović and Prof. Asım Pandžić, joint scientific research projects, academic collaborations and concrete models of cooperation that could be implemented in the future were discussed.

Within the scope of the planned cooperation, it is envisaged to organise joint international scientific conferences, develop joint projects, and implement faculty and student exchange programmes. It is aimed that these cooperation processes will make significant contributions to the development of interdisciplinary research, the enhancement of academic mobility, and the internationalisation of higher education.

The meetings resulted in the signing of a Cooperation Protocol between Yalova University and Tuzla University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The signed protocol marks the official beginning of scientific and educational relations between the two universities and is considered an important step in the academic field between Turkey and the Balkans.
