Students from Yalova University achieved great success at the international Global PR Challenge competition held in the Sharjah emirate of the United Arab Emirates. Yalova University, the only university from Turkey to participate in the competition, took the top three places, putting both our country and the university on the world map.
In the competition, Sudenaz Merdin, a third-year student in the New Media and Communication Department, and her team won first prize with their artificial intelligence-powered application called ‘One City, Many Voices’. The application attracted attention with its innovative structure that brings people from different cultures together in the same city.
Second place went to Eyüp Ensar Keskin, a second-year student in the New Media and Communication Department at Yalova University, and his team. Their project, entitled ‘The Ships of Culture,’ earned full marks from the jury by conceptualising intercultural interaction through a symbolic journey, while third place went to Moldir Zakırova, a fourth-year student in the same department, and her team. Their project, titled ‘When in Sharjah, You Are Home,’ stood out with its concept of instilling a sense of belonging in visitors to the city.
By securing the top three places, the students achieved a remarkable success, representing both Yalova University and Turkey in the best possible light. Speaking on the subject, the students emphasised that this achievement was not only a source of personal pride but also a great joy in bringing recognition to their university, their esteemed lecturers who had nurtured them, and their country on the world stage.
