Founding Dean of the Faculty of Medicine – Vice Rector
Born in Siirt, Pediatrics Specialist Prof. Dr. Vefik Arıca completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Siirt. After graduating from Siirt High School, he graduated from Çapa Faculty of Medicine. Among the scientific studies of Arıca, who has a master's degree in the Department of Business Administration at Beykent University; 160 international and domestic scientific articles, speeches in more than 50 scientific congresses abroad and in Turkey, session chairmanship, congress chairmanship, congress secretariat and active duties in the scientific organising board.
After graduating from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa Faculty of Medicine) with honors, he started his career after he completed his specialization in Child Health and Diseases at Istanbul Bakırköy Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital.
Apart from Istanbul Bakırköy Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital, he worked in different hospitals such as İstinye State Hospital, Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital, Haseki Training and Research Hospital, Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital.
He received the title of Associate Professor at the age of 33 from Hacettepe University and the title of Professor at the age of 38 from the University of Health Sciences in Istanbul.
He worked as a coordinator in TÜBİTAK projects. In 2012, he received the award for the young scientist who authored the greatest number of scientific publications and articles in Turkey for 2 consecutive years.
He received the “Best Project Award” by TÜBİTAK in 2016 and the “International Outstanding Achievement Award” by New York University in 2017. He was awarded “Lifetime Honor Award” in 2018.
His scientific works include 19 scientific books, 131 scientific articles and publications, numerous speakers and session chairs in national and international scientific congresses, and scientific refereeing in many journals.
Arıca, who previously served as the Founding Dean of Siirt University Faculty of Medicine, continues to serve as the Vice Rector of Yalova University as well as the Founding Dean of Yalova University Faculty of Medicine.
As a member of the Covid-19 Pandemic Board, Vefik ARICA, who attracted attention with his numerous accurate and timely information in national newspapers and television during the pandemic period, still writes scientific health articles on newspapers and websites such as Sabah newspaper and tibbiyebulteni.com.
